In Greene County district court Nicolas Collin Woods, 21, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to affix a tax stamp. He was placed on probation for two years. He must pay a $750 civil penalty, a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge, $240 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $200 court costs. Josey Michael Wilson, 19, of Carroll was sentenced Dec. 4 after he changed his plea to guilty to one count of burglary-third degree. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He must reside at a residential correctional facility until the maximum benefit is attained. He is to remain in the custody of the Greene County sheriff until a bed is available. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must also pay $300 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $301 court costs. One charge of burglary-third degree and a charge of theft-possession of stolen property were dismissed. Zachary Michael Wailes, 19, of Breda was sentenced Dec. 4 after he changes his plea to guilty to a charge of burglary-third degree. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He must reside at a residential correctional facility until the maximum benefit is attained. He is to be held in the Carroll County jail until a bed is available. He was fined $75 with a $262.50 surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge, and restitution to be determined. He must pay $440 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $180 court costs. Charges of possession of marijuana-third offense, burglary-third degree (unoccupied vehicle), and theft-second degree were dismissed. Fred J. Lonsdale, 40, of Jefferson was sentenced Dec. 6 after changing his plea to guilty to charges of possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense and public intoxication-second offense. On the possession charge, he was sentenced to two years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), and a $125 LEI surcharge. On the public intoxication charge, Lonsdale was sentenced to one year in prison, concurrent to the term for possession. That prison term was also suspended and he was placed on probation for one year, concurrent. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must pay $120 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Sunset Irving Gifford, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced Dec. 4 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery-aggravated misdemeanor, amended from forgery-class D felony. He was sentenced to two years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must also pay $350 restitution to Farmers Savings Bank, a $125 LEI surcharge, $760 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $161 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Derek Ryan DeMoss, 26, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury; Jesse John Brosh, 42, of Scranton, serious injury by vehicle, assault, child endangerment, harassment and tampering with a witness; William Warren Lawrence, 42, of Jefferson, assault on a peace officer/medical service personnel (two counts); Carmen Andrea Andrews, 49, of Grand Junction, assault-serious; and James Thomas Powell, 58, of Perry, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-second offense. Trial dates were set for Jan. 28 for Brosh, Lawence and Powell. Trial dates were set for March 4 for DeMoss and Andrews.
